Reclaiming the Democratic Party – 2010 was Tough but We Must Continue
Progressive Democrats of America has led the way in bringing the Democratic Party back to its roots on the issues. PDSD champions progressive causes in San Diego’s North County. However, we need to maintain the positions we won and continue to support our causes and candidates. We fought a hard battle in 2010, with some good results - new governor and incumbent senator, but we lost the House of Representatives. We must regain control in 012, and judging by the .public reaction to Tea Party control of the House, we may do so. In the 49th CD, redistricting will help, but not soon enough for 012. What is a Progressive?
We want a Democratic Party that stands for peace, fair trade, universal health care, clean elections, sustainable environmental policies and economic justice.
Why do we need a Progressive organization within the Democratic Party?
PDA is mobilizing the grassroots to hold the Democratic Party accountable, and helping to elect progressive candidates on the local level. We need unity between Democrats, Greens and other progressives to overcome right wing divide-and-conquer tactics. PDA works with these diverse groups and shares common goals in order to build winning coalitions.
PDA is a movement
Social change begins with social movements and ends with politicians, not vice-versa. Our inside/outside strategy “leads the leaders” by building a powerful movement for true participatory democracy.
Progressive Democrats of San Diego serves the North County area of San Diego County. We are a chapter of PDA and chartered as a Democratic Club with the Democratic Central Committee of San Diego County. We invite you to join us.
